WHO I AM
Dr. Chrissoula Gavalakis
MBBCh, BSc Lab Med, MMedHaem (WITS)
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1965, to Greek parents who emigrated from Alexandria, Egypt. I graduated from S.A.H.E.T.I high school in 1983, with 3 distinctions.
A passion for helping others led me down the path of Medicine and I received my degree in 1990 from the Medical School of the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. I was however interested in furthering my career in a discipline that involved both scientific research and patient care.
In 1986 I was granted a Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Medicine and in 1998 a Master’s degree in the Field of Haematology (study of blood disorders).
I believe this experience allows me to provide my patients with quality healthcare.
As a professional Family Doctor since 2000, I have tried to bring a holistic approach to my medical practice in order to find comfortable and effective solutions for everyone.
I completed a course in Homeopathy in 2005, under the auspices of Prof.George Vithoulkas and the Academy of Classical Homeopathy (www.vithoulkas.com) thereby giving my patients a choice of therapeutic options.
Concierge Medical Services is a novel concept which aims at bringing health care to the patient and not the other way around. I try and give my patients the choice of their medical management allowing them to be actively involved, and often take the health care to them if they cannot come to me.
